Auctions in July usually aren`t too busy, but this one was an exception.
Best prices went to the usual kinds of things, a gorgeous men`s Rolex watch (lot 514) sold for £2100. We had heavy gold bracelets (lots 510, 509, and 434) selling for £1080, £800, and £650. Lots of other jewellery, especially in gold, did very well.
And there were also great prices on non-precious metal items. For example, lot 700 was a pair of 19th century gilt wood and gesso pier mirrors with cupids and swags - definitely not for a minimalist interior - but fantastic. They sold for £1300.
An exquisitely painted snuff box - painted by Guiseppe Tresca- sold for £430.
Taking us a bit by surprise, a 15-piece collection of Balinese and Thai masks fetched a hammer price of £390.
Next sale is September 7th.
