Fifty percent of our top twenty items in the September sale were gold. Lot 508, a flat linked high carat necklace sold for a hammer price of £1950. A wide band bracelet (lot 483) went for £1470 and lot 425 was an 18ct gold Savory and Sons, Cornhill, London full hunter pocket watch and it sold for £1300.
The biggest pleasant surprise of the day were two lots of bronzes by Carl Payne. Lot 597, pictured, sold for £2000 and lot 596 went for £1220.
Not a surprise but pleasant nonetheless was lot 714 a Victorian music box made from walnut and having some delightful features e.g. hammers in the form of bees. Bidding was brisk on the phone and in the room and the lot made a hammer price of £1300.
