Bidding For AntiquesBids may be made in person at the auction, via this website (just browse the catalogue to the item of your choice), by completing and signing our standard Bidding Form enclosed in the auction catalogue (available one week before the auction- Call:+44(0)1306 884556 or +44(0)1306 876280), by email to be received by no later than 10 am (GMT) on the morning of the Auction, by telephone or by prior booking of a telephone line to bid for a specific item, see our general terms and conditions for more information. Attending the AuctionIf you are attending the auction you will need to check what time the antiques you are interested in are likely to be sold at. Generally the Auctioneer sells between 140 and 160 lots an hour. The Auction is divided into various categories and the time each category starts is set out in the front of the catalogue. The Auctioneer will not start auctioning any category before the time shown. You should aim to arrive at the Auction Room at least half an hour before the time the lot you are interested in is due to be sold. This will enable you to register with us as a Buyer and collect your bidding number card. You will also be able to get a feel for what is happening. The Auctioneer usually takes bids from two or three people at a time on any lot. If you wish to bid you should raise your hand to ensure that your bid is noticed by the Auctioneer. The Auctioneer will then be able to look to you for further bids until you decide that you wish to stop bidding (when you need simply shake your head) or are successful in purchasing your lot. When the Auctioneer’s hammer falls a legally binding contract is made. It is therefore important that you are aware of the buyers terms and conditions as well as the general terms and conditions
